Recent Cognizant Placement Paper at CBIT December 2009
Hi friends...this is varun...am doin my B.E final year in CBIT...recently i hav got placed into CTS
through oncampus recruitments in our college.
Selection procedure has two steps as usual
1) Written test
2) Technical + HR
WRITTEN TEST:
The test consists of three sections
1)Analytical section
2)Verbal (English)
3)Non-verbal reasoning
Analytical section contains various aptitude questions like one based on directions, blocks
problem,questions on ages,relationships etc.
Verbal (English) section is the toughest section.
It has
1-5 choose the incorrect sentence
5-10 choose the correct sentence
2 reading comprehension passages will be given.the passages are very lengthy
5 sets of scrambled sentences
Non-verbal reasoning section is the easiest of the three. All the questions are based on figures like
1) Find the odd one out among the following series figures
2) Find the missing figure in the series.
3) Questions on syllogism rules in R.S.Agarwal text on verbal and non-verbal reasoning
The complete pattern of the paper is given in this site itself. Even i hav prepared by having a glance
through this site.I advise you to have a R.S.Agarwal text on verbal and non-verbal reasoning. It helped
me a lot.If you have done with the book then u need not have extra preparation. Answer as fast as
you can...your fastness counts...the test was for 55 minutes and the number of questions is 65.So be
quick and accurate at the same time.Coming to the verbal section my advice is not to touch the
reading comprehension.First i have done with correct and incorrect sentences and then 3 sets of
scrambled sentences. So answer all the remaining bits and if u hav time then go with the reading
comprehension.
Interview:
Actually the interview is both technical as well as HR.But mine was completely technical.
First he asked me to tell about myself
told...
then he asked me to tell all the subjects that i have studied in the last 3 years
told...
then he asked me questions for some about 25 minutes.
My seniors told me that the questions wil be from C,C++,java and not more than these. But I was not
asked from these subjects. He asked me most of the questions from "SOFTWARE ENGINEERING" of
3rd year 1st semister. So for cse students the interview wil be almost based on technical questiions
and have a look at SE also not only C,CPP,java etc.
So finally, jst prepare thoroughly R.S.Agarwal text for written test and if it is ur turn on the day of
recruitment then definitely u wil be IN.It is obvious that every one wil b tensed...but try to be cool
Wishin you a very good luck and ALL THE BEST
